SLC Sementes expands cotton seed portfolio to meet rising market
SLC Sementes, a SLC Agrícola brand, continues to innovate and foster the promise of cotton farming. One year after the launch of the commercialization of cotton seeds to the market, SLC Sementes is now offering a more robust portfolio, with more varieties and options for the producer, but also in an exponentially greater amount. With market profitability conditions maintained for cotton growers, the estimate of cotton seed sales remains positive.
Aiming to give the Brazilian producer access to seed varieties with productive potential and quality, SLC Sementes, which is already a reference in soy seed production, introduced the first four cotton seeds of the TMG44 B2RF, TMG31 B3RF, IMA5801 B2RF and BS2106 GL (option for refuge) cultivars last year, in partnership with the main players in the market: TMG, IMA and BASF. The new varieties introduced into SLC's cotton seed portfolio this year are TMG 91 WS3 and TMG61 RF. Each variety has different cycle, fertility, cultivar and fiber yield characteristics.
Ricardo Oliveira, SLC´s Seed and New Business Sales Manager, explains that all cultivars available in the portfolio have productive potential, fiber quality, aggregate biotechnology and resistant to problems faced by the cotton grower. “This year we have a more robust portfolio. With more variety of seeds and betting on a market that remains high, the goal is to provide seeds to all cotton producing regions of the Brazilian Cerrado. The intention is to grow together with the Brazilian producer, supporting them with quality products and productive potential to make the cotton growing area increase with each harvest, "says Oliveira.
SLC Agrícola has been using its own cotton seed production for three years and tests new varieties and technologies on its farms, in part of the area, whose cotton cultivation totals 177 thousand hectares. "Currently, SLC Sementes already supplies over 10% of the cotton seed market with its own production, which is very relevant, nationally," Ricardo explains.
