SLC Ventures makes first ever investment in agricultural technology
SLC Ventures, the SLC Agrícola arm dedicated to accelerating innovative and digital solutions in the field through investments in agricultural technology (agtech) ventures, has announced its first investment in an agricultural startup. The investment has been made in Aegro, a company founded in 2014 to develop farm management tools. This investment is SLC Ventures’ first step towards its goal of helping to develop agtechs so that they can grow and deliver solutions that increase the yield and profitability of Brazilian agriculture.
The investment in Aegro, which is in its third round of funding, is being made by other four industry players and amounts to R$12 million (sum of all investments in this round), which will enable Aegro to democratize access to financial solutions tailored to the reality of Brazilian agricultural producers, reducing the bureaucracy in accessing credit, insurance and digital accounts.
The startup is known for its agricultural management system “Excel do Campo”, already installed in over 4,000 farms of all profiles and crops across 20 states in Brazil. The solution enables all employees at the farm to control their agricultural processes simultaneously, working with greater integration and without the use of Internet, which democratizes access to a management tool.
