SLC Agrícola joins CDP’s climate change leadership group
SLC Agrícola has improved its performance in the climate change program disclosed by Disclosure Insight Action (CDP), a global non-profit organization that manages the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform for initiatives aimed at the strategic management of climate change, forests and water security. These initiatives address various categories, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the management of risks and opportunities. The 2023 questionnaire was filled out by over 23,000 companies. The CDP score is also used to assess the performance of companies participating in the selection process for the underlying portfolio of B3’s ISE index, the flagship sustainability index on Brazil’s stock exchange.
In CDP’s assessment for 2023, the company obtained A- in the Climate Change program. The leadership group includes companies with scores A and A-. The company also achieved better results in two other programs: Water Security and Forests, obtaining score B. Since 2021, SLC Agrícola has been participating in this survey, which is based on a transparency questionnaire created by CDP in which companies describe their sustainability practices, and has been improving its score. With this rating, the company is now part of the leadership group on this topic.
Álvaro Dilli, HR, Sustainability and IT director at SLC Agrícola, highlights the importance of this recognition: “We are proud to achieve A- in CDP’s Climate Change global rating in 2023. The dedication of all areas across the company was fundamental for achieving this important milestone. As an agricultural commodities producer that is listed on the B3, obtaining this rating on Climate Change demonstrates our commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of our operations in line with the UN Global targets.”
The Sustainability area is strategic for the company, and one of the targets is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero in scopes 1 and 2 by 2030. From 2019 to 2022, the company had already reduced its emissions by 55%.
