In Bahia, producers celebrate the good performance of irrigated soy
The irrigated soy producers in Bahia who had an earlier cycle have already finished harvesting. Planting began on October 1, 2021, and yielded a harvest with an excellent phytosanitary aspect, with high pest control in diseases, resulting in plants with a low level of damage. The average productivity in the pivot areas remained around 73 and 84 sacks per hectare.
The early oilseed cycle was only possible due to Ordinance 053 of Agência Estadual de Defesa Agropecuária [State Agricultural Defense Agency] (Adab), of August 13, 2021. With it, producers can request change of the planting date, and follow the plan after approval from the competent bodies. Pivot cultivation increases the production window, allowing the producer to carry out two different crop harvests per year, in the same area.
