We received the Gold Seal from the GHG Protocol
We received, once again, the Gold Seal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program for the company's 2023 inventory regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The ceremony was held in São Paulo on August 21 and was attended by the Environment Coordinator, Paula Silvério, and the Environment Specialist, Vanessa Rosa. This achievement recognizes our transparency and investment in regenerative agriculture practices in addition to emphasizing the reduction of our emissions and the increase in the removal of these gases.
Since 2019, we have annually published our inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and removals on the Public Emissions Register platform of the Brazilian GHG Protocol program, conducted by the Center for Sustainability Studies of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. At the moment, this is our main tool for measuring impacts regarding climate change.
And receiving the program's Gold Seal is a recognition of the transparency of our data and our commitment to future generations, investing in regenerative agriculture practices and pursuing the goal of making operations net carbon neutral by 2030.
The program
The Brazilian GHG Protocol Program was created in 2008 and is responsible for adapting the GHG Protocol method to the Brazilian context and developing calculation tools for GHG emission estimates. It was developed by FGVces and WRI, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and 27 Founding Companies.
The objectives of the program are: to promote a corporate culture of GHG emissions inventory in Brazil to support an agenda for addressing climate change within organizations and to provide instruments and international quality standards for accounting for emissions and publishing inventories.
