Agopa´s HVI Laboratory receives MAPA certificate
On Thursday (08.04), the High Volume Instrument (HVI) Analysis Laboratory of Associação Goiana dos Produtores de Algodão [Goiás Cotton Producers Association] (Agopa), received a certificate from the Brazilian Cotton Classing Program, issued by the Department of Plant Product Inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (Dipov/DAS – Mapa). The certification certifies that the Laboratory complies with the requirements of SDA Ordinance 375/2021, which establishes the technical requirements of the program.
Agopa is a pilot in the process of implementing Mapa certification, along with SLC Agrícola. It is in the HVI analysis laboratory of Agopa that the cotton from some of the SLC Productive Units is analyzed, in addition to personnel training, since the quality of Brazilian fiber has been increasingly respected in the domestic and foreign markets.
Prior to delivery of the certification, on Wednesday, the 3rd, representatives from Mapa visited the laboratory to audit the certification process of the sector. Several criteria were assessed, such as the receiving and size of samples, packaging, training of professionals, sample identification analysis and other items related to receiving cotton for analysis. Items such as air conditioning, equipment and machine calibration processes were also verified.
The certificate was delivered in Brasília by the Association's Executive Director, Dulcimar Pessatto Filho, with international buyers from the largest textile markets in attendance, guests of the 2022 Buyers Mission, held by Abrapa, whose focus is to present the quality of the entire production process of Brazilian plume, from planting, handling, harvesting, processing, laboratory analysis and traceability, among other aspects.
The purpose of the course was to understand the fundamental points that influence the quality of the fiber. "We have to add value to our product at the time of sale. We only achieve this if we are careful throughout the entire process, from soil preparation through to delivery of the plume”, says the professor who gave the training, Jorge Jose de Lima, a teacher accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (Mapa) in cotton plume qualification.
