Innovation Day reinforces advances in the Innovation area

For the third consecutive year, Horizonte SLC, SLC Agrícola's innovation arm, held Innovation Day, an event that aims to highlight and reinforce the company's innovative initiatives and projects in the last period. The meeting was held on November 14 at Instituto Caldeira, in Porto Alegre (RS), bringing together the Board of Directors, employees, and representatives of startups.

At the opening, the Head of Innovation and Strategy Management, Frederico Logemann, spoke on the theme "Journey and Connection with Strategy". He revisited some basic concepts of innovation, the three horizons defined by the area's strategy, and highlighted the company's ambitions in innovation. "Looking back over the last few years, what we're doing is like putting together the pieces of a puzzle, connecting our initiatives in this segment."

Next, the Coordinator of Innovation and Strategy Management, Daniele Lopes, spoke about the Innovation Diagnosis, conducted among the company's employees, in partnership with Innoway. SLC Agrícola obtained an index of 69, which indicates that the company is at a growing level of innovation. "We still have plenty of room to grow, each in their respective field, in collaboration with the innovation area." We have already had a good development and the idea is to carry out this diagnosis every year," he said.

Next, Frederico Logemann spoke about investments in startups and new technologies, with the participation of Fernando Reis, CEO of AgroAdvance, and Aníbal Wanderley, CEO of Cerensa. The program included the participation of the Digital Agriculture Manager, Ronei Sana, and the IT Manager, Rafael Rosa, who spoke about innovation in their areas.

Later, Daniele also spoke about "SLC Agrícola's Corporate Innovation", discussed the current innovation programs, and presented the Innovation Booklet, which was distributed to the event participants and will be sent to the employees at the Head office and farms. He also spoke about the Multipliers of Innovation, a group of employees, created this year, to further foster the culture of innovation in the company.

Next, Daniele and the Innovation and Strategy Management Analyst, Camila Moreira, presented the winners of the Innovation Day Trophy:

— INNOVATIVE LEADERSHIP: Ronei Sana (Digital Agriculture Manager), Gustavo Arrial (Agroindustrial Manager), and Guilherme Argenta (Mechanization Manager)

— INNOVATIVE PROJECT: SLC Own Telemetry, Water Consumption and Effluent Disposal Management, Agricultural Planning Simulator

— INNOVATIVE ENGAGEMENT: Diogo Soares and Chaiana Costa (Logistics Analysts in the Logistics and Export area); Luan Souza (Agricultural Operations Technician – Perdizes Farm); Junio Santos (Inventory Administrative Assistant – Paysandu Farm) and Ismael Malaquias (Tax Document Processing Analyst – CSC Head Office);

— INNOVATION JOURNEY CASE PROJECT: Urbana Farm (Fernando Hocsman, from Life's Gardener)

Aurélio Pavinato, CEO of SLC Agrícola, closed the event. He recalled that it was a correct decision to assemble the Innovation team in the company four years ago. He congratulated the team for the results and the event and highlighted that "innovation is not creativity; it's process, methodology, and hard work." According to him, the company is on the right track in building an innovative culture. "We have technology available to develop a 'dream' agriculture and we have room to innovate and do things differently, and that is what we want to continue to encourage from now on," he said.
