This Thursday (07/10), the CEO of SLC Agrícola, Aurélio Pavinato participated in the LIVE held by the Planeta Campo program, on Canal Rural. “Challenges and opportunities of the carbon market”, was the theme of the chat that also included José Angelo Mazzillo, deputy secretary of agricultural policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) and Caroline Perestrelo, executive superintendent of corporate agro at Santander.

Commercialization of the 2020/21 Brazilian soybean harvest reached 90.8% of expected production by October 8th. It is still below the average of 91.5% over the last 5 years, according to a survey by the consultancy firm DATAGRO.

The 2020/21 cotton harvest officially ended in September. Now, the fiber goes to processing. According to data from the National Supply Company (Conab), the 2020/21 harvest is expected to reach 2.35 million tons. Brazil is among the world’s five largest producers alongside China, India, the United States and Pakistan. The country is also among the largest exporters and went from fourth to second place in exports in the last 10 years.

The consultancy Safras & Mercados projected that the Brazilian cotton lint production area is expected to grow 15.5% in the 2021/2022 harvest, compared to the previous period, going from 2.38 million to 2.75 million tons.
