Third Agroeconomic Report for the Midwest predicts a larger and more expensive soy harvest
According to the third Agroeconomic Report for the Midwest, a publication that compiles key agribusiness data of the region formed by Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás, the forecast that soy could have a planted area of 20.3 million hectares in the 2022/23 harvest in the region, which represents 47.4% of the total area planted in Brazil.
The report is produced by the Agroeconomic Alliance of the Midwest – formed by CNA, IFAG, Imea and Famasul. It is estimated that 71.82 million tons of soy will be harvested in this cycle, a volume 6.8% higher than that obtained in 2021/22.
The IMEA's production cost report for the 22/23 harvest shows a consolidation in the 67.21% increase in soy production costs for the 22/23 harvest, compared to the 21/22 harvest in Mato Grosso. This increase was mainly due to the high prices of agricultural inputs and fuel in the last year.
