Cotton harvest will be bigger in MT
The area and cotton production of the 21/22 harvest showed positive results in Mato Grosso. According to data from Ampa, the area was projected at 1.12 million hectares, a 1.26% increase compared to the previous estimate and 16.13% compared to the 20/21 harvest, with 150.95 thousand hectares for the first cotton harvest and 963.91 thousand for the second harvest.
Increase in the projection was linked to the strong demand for plume. In addition, low global stock and attractive prices favored the scenario in the state. Regarding productivity, it remained at 290.90@/ha of seed cotton, an initial increase of 4.76% compared to the previous harvest. The optimistic perspectives regarding productivity, so far, are reflections of the conditions of the crops within that expected for MT.
With projection of the increase in the area and maintenance of yields, the forecast for seed cotton production for the 21/22 harvest was 4.88 million tons, an increase of 1.26% compared to the last report and 21.66% higher than production of the 20/21 harvest
