SLC Agrícola executives participate in key congress on Crop-Livestock-Forestry Integration
SLC Agrícola played a lead role in the most important event on Integrated Crop, Livestock and Forestry (ICLF) systems in Brazil, the Santa Brígida Open Farm, which this year was held virtually. Over two days (June 9-10), the conference featured renowned speakers to discuss the ICLF scenario in Brazil and the environmental initiatives adopted by companies and government.
On the first day, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Gustavo Lunardi, participated on the panel “Producing and Preserving is Possible”, together with Marize Porto Costa, owner of the Santa Brígida Farm, which is an ICLF model in Brazil; Luiz Lourenço, CEO of Cocamar Cooperativa Agroindustrial (Cocamar); Guilhermo Carvajal, head of Sustainability at Syngenta, and which was mediated by Paulo Herrmann, CEO of John Deere Brasil. The opening session featured the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock & Supply, Tereza Cristina; Renato Rodrigues, president of the ILPF Network; and the former CEO of Embrapa, Maurício Lopes.
On the second day, SLC Agrícola CEO Aurélio Pavinato gave a lecture on the connection between agricultural production and environmental initiatives that highlighted the importance of sustainability for Brazilian agricultural processes, while presenting SLC Agrícola’s initiatives in this area. The executive also presented a study conducted by company that demonstrated how better protected and healthier soils hold larger carbon stocks.
