Junior Achievement Community Leadership
SLC Agrícola is a sponsor of the Junior Achievement Community Leadership Program, one of the largest youth socially motivating organizations in the world, which is being held at Guaramano Technical School, located in Guarani das Missões (RS).
The Program began on September 25 to provide Junior High School students with the experience of creating and operating a community organization. 20 students and 4 volunteer teachers participate in the project.
Students are challenged to conduct 12 weekly meetings at the school, lasting 3 hours in extra-curricular time, to analyze the situation of the local community, detect an aspect to be improved, form a community organization, design a community service project and practice attitudes of leadership. The concepts of third-sector, social projects and leadership are worked through the learn-by-doing method throughout the meetings, awakening the spirit of leadership in young people.
In order to be able to conduct the meetings, volunteer teachers were trained by Junior Achievement and received pedagogical material for the development of the Program with the students.
