Conab predicts growth of 15% during 2022/23 grain harvest in relation to previous harvest
Estimated grain production during Brazil’s 2022/23 harvest is expected to reach record levels, with a total yield of 312.4 million tons. This represents an increase of 41.5 million tons when compared to the 2021/22 harvest, which recently concluded with a total yield of 270.9 million tons. These data are taken from the National Supply Company’s (Conab) 2022/23 Initial Grain Harvest Survey. The planted area in Brazil is expected to increase by 2.9%, reaching a total 76.6 million hectares.
42.89 million hectares are expected to be allocated to the planting of soybean, which represents a 3.4% increase in relation to the most recent harvest. According to Conab, soybean production is expected to increase by 21.3%, or 152.4 million tons, during the 2022/23 cycle.
Corn is expected to decrease by 15% reduction in terms of planted area. However, Conab expects that production during the three 2022/23 harvests will total 126.9 million tons. Even with the reduction in planted area, a 14.6% increase in first crop corn is expected, with a total yield of 28.69 million tons.
A total of 1.63 million hectares is expected to be allocated to the cultivation of cotton, an area 1.9% larger than that seen during the previous harvest. An estimated 2.92 million tons of cotton is expected to be produced.
