Brazil expected to harvest 138.8 million tons of soybean in 2022, IBGE
Brazil is expected to have a record soybean harvest in 2022. Total production of the oleaginous plant is forecast to be 138.8 million tons, a 2.4%, or 4.5 million-ton, increase relative to 2021, according to data from the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production for November published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
A second prognosis for agricultural production estimates that the harvest for grains, cereals, and legumes in Brazil will yield 278 million tons in 2022, a 10%, or 25.2 million-ton, increase relative to 2021.
IBGE is also expecting to see in 2022 an increase in the production of 1st crop corn (a 13.9%, or 3.6 million-ton, increase relative to 2021, for a total yield of 29.2 million tons), 2nd crop corn (a 28.4%, or 17.8 million-ton, increase for a total yield of 80.2 million tons), herbaceous cottonseed hull (a 4.3%, or 253.5 thousand-ton, increase for a total yield of 6.1 million tons), sorghum (a 12.2%, or 291.1 thousand-ton, increase for a total 2.7 million-ton yield), 1st crop bean (a 10.7%, or 124.5 thousand-ton, increase for a total 1.3 million-ton yield) and 2nd crop bean (a 4.0%, or 40.8 thousand ton, increase for a total 1.1 million-ton yield).
There will also be an increase in the total area harvested for soybean (2.7%), 1st crop corn (3.3%), 2nd crop corn (4.2%), herbaceous cottonseed hull (3.1%), 1st crop bean (0.4%), and 3rd crop bean (1.3%).
