Digital Agriculture at SLC Agrícola
The digital era has come to agriculture. A large number of applications, software, sensors and equipment has emerged over recent years due to the association of technologies such as modern machines, precision agriculture and information technology. SLC Agrícola has joined the digital wave. In 2016 it created the Agricultural Technology Committee, composed of a multidisciplinary group of professionals, evaluating the best solutions for the company.
Another successful initiative is the development of solutions with the internal SLC Agrícola team, such as the QBEN (Cotton Processing Quality) project, with the development of an application for data collection, software and a dashboard for analysis. Precision farming tools allow for the use of fertility and productivity maps, to correct soil problems, perform seeding and replenish nutrients accurately and at variable rates. Currently more than 10 new projects are being tested on the farms, aiming to monitor the quality of operations and the efficiency of the machines. These tests use technological concepts such as Big Data, IoT (Internet of Things), clouds, drones, notes via mobility, data communication networks and integration with management software.
