History, projects and research
Parnaíba Farm started in the 80s in a shed, where the cotton gin is currently located. In 1994, cotton was planted as an experiment and was then hand-picked. Later, in the year 2000, they began with a plantation of 50 ha. Today, the Farm has three offices, a Cotton Processing Unit and a Grain Processing Unit. The unit is located in the municipality of Tasso Fragoso (MA).
Volunteers from Parnaíba Farm (MA) initiate a project to encourage the practice of reading and writing at the Ana Alves de Araújo Morais School, located in the Paraíso community, city of Tasso Fragoso (MA). The goal is to motivate and encourage students to seek the habit of reading and, consequently, improve writing. The project includes a writing and drawing contest as well as semantic lectures.
Parnaíba Farm has an area of approximately 130 ha used for field trials, which evaluate the behavior and response of agricultural crops to cultivation treatments, in addition to the phytotechnical tests evaluating the adaptability and stability of genotypes, nutritional, pest, disease and weed control studies have been carried out.
