Brazilian cotton: going beyond the borders of the world
The 2020/21 cotton harvest officially ended in September. Now, the fiber goes to processing. According to data from the National Supply Company (Conab), the 2020/21 harvest is expected to reach 2.35 million tons. Brazil is among the world’s five largest producers alongside China, India, the United States and Pakistan. The country is also among the largest exporters and went from fourth to second place in exports in the last 10 years.
Cotton production in Brazil may grow by 15.5% in the 2021/2022 harvest
The consultancy Safras & Mercados projected that the Brazilian cotton lint production area is expected to grow 15.5% in the 2021/2022 harvest, compared to the previous period, going from 2.38 million to 2.75 million tons.

Breast cancer is the subject of a talk given at the Quality of Life Program
The 2021 Quality of Life Program continued on October 21st, with the lecture “Awareness of early diagnosis and breast health care”, led by Beatriz Moser, breast cancer winner, technical volunteer at the Rio Breast Institute Grande do Sul (Imama) and oncology nutritionist. The lecture was made possible through a partnership between SLC Agrícola and Tama, a company that provides packaging for cotton bales, through the Cotton for Life Campaign.
SLC Agrícola celebrates 10 years of RTRS certification for responsible and sustainable soy production
SLC Agrícola, one of the world’s largest grain and fiber producers, has always been aligned with sustainable practices and voluntary certifications for sustainable agriculture, which are a way of reaffirming its commitment to the environment and the community. Among the certifications is the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) – granted by the international non-profit association that promotes the growth of production, trade and use of responsible soy. The system guarantees environmentally correct, socially appropriate and economically viable productions.
SLC Agrícola part of program for “ESG in Agribusiness”
SLC Agrícola, one of the world’s leading producers of grains and fibers, is part of the program of the event “ESG in Agribusiness – The decade of regeneration”, which takes place on November 10th (Wednesday), from 5pm to 8pm, free of charge and virtual via YouTube. The company is a partner in the event and participates in panel 3 “Dimensions of ESG in Agribusiness”, at 7pm, with Álvaro Dilli, Director of Human Resources and Sustainability.
