SLC Agrícola carries out Field Days in its Units
Between November 2017 and March 2018, Soybean Field Days were held at SLC Agrícola’s Farms. In total, events were held in 10 Company Units. The Farms that promoted the field days were Planorte, Pioneira, Perdizes, Planalto, Paiaguás, Pamplona, Parnaíba, Planeste, Panorama and Palmares.
More than 500 people took part in the events, amongst them were SLC Agrícola’s professionals and producers of neighboring units.
The objective of the Field Days was to open up the research areas of the Units to present the testing on the soybean crops. Evaluation tests of genotypes at different times, plant populations and sowing arrangements were presented; testing of integrated pest management, diseases and nematode and integrated soil fertility management were also presented.
The realization of the Field Days also aimed to promote the approximation and exchange of information between the professionals of SLC Agrícola and the technicians and producers of the region, creating an environment of reciprocal collaboration that is reflected in the development of agriculture in the region.
The Soybean Field Days were successfully carried out at all Farms and had a very positive return from the participant’s side, especially in the regions where this type of event is not carried out frequently. The opportunity to get to know SLC Agrícola better and to gain more knowledge about the potential of soybean genotypes that are better adapted to the regions was also emphasized.
Research at SLC Agrícola has been conducted for three decades, generating important information that, each year, is the basis for the elaboration of agricultural planning. Currently research areas are present in 11 Company Units, with an area of 1,300 ha and more than 300 tests, involving around 36 professionals.
Starting this year, Field Days will be held annually with two annual editions involving soy, corn and cotton. Between May and June 2018 the Field Days for cotton and corn crops will be held at some of the farms.
