SLC Agrícola performs connections with startups
As of the Agro Exponential Innovation Program, the Company selects three solutions to ensure more efficiency in the processes of its Farms and offices.
The Agro Exponential Innovation Program, launched this April by SLC Agrícola, has reached its final phase and selected three startups solutions for implementation (rollout). The goal of the initiative was to solve internal challenges in an innovative and efficient way, in order for it to be one of the company movements in its evolution trajectory for innovative culture and business efficiency.
The Investor Relations Manager of SLC Agrícola, Frederico Logemann, who is in charge of the Program, highlights that the initiative has broaden horizons and brought the company closer to an innovative ecosystem. “We channeled our efforts to a market scanning that would meet the demands of our internal challenges. The Agro Exponential has allowed us to adopt a practical vision of the innovative management, contributing to evolutions such as more agility for technologies validation”, he assures.
Altogether, 185 startups subscribed, but only 20 of them passed the Pitch Day, performed at AgTech Garage, in Piracicaba (SP). Out of those, 10 were selected for the immersion stage, in which the seven ones that performed the pilots were classified. The three startups selected for the final phase performed prototyping and proof of concept in order to win the challenges. They are the Brazilians Dattos and Agrymet, and the Argentinian Acronex. The proposals involve, respectively, accounting automation, GAP of agricultural productivity and usage management of agricultural defensives. Apart from these, other two projects are still running and will be completed in February, 2020, due to the farming cycle.
Internally, 46 employees were allocated in work teams dedicated to each one of the ten immersion challenges. Logemann highlights that there was a cultural impact inside SLC Agrícola. “These employees learned how a startup thinks and works, and got in contact with a faster way of solving problems”. For the running of the program, SLC Agrícola has partnered with Innoscience, an innovative management consulting company. “The most incredible aspect of Agro Exponential was that it had a beginning, a middle and an end, something rare to see when considering innovation of big companies who change their priorities very often. In order to do so, the support of the high management and the engaging of sponsors and internal teams, as well as of the selected startups, were decisive”, highlights Maximiliano Carlomagno, founding partner of the consulting company.
