SLC Sementes innovates by launching cotton seed line
SLC Sementes, the SLC Agrícola brand that gives Brazilian producers access to seed varieties with high yield potential and quality, is launching today (June 14) its new cotton seed portfolio. A reference in the production of soybean seed, the company is now offering rural producers another option for their cotton fields.
SLC Sementes’ cotton seed line comprises four varieties: TMG44 B2RF, TMG31 B3RF, IMA5801 B2RF and BS2106 GL (option for refuge), in partnership with the market’s leading players: TMG, IMA and BASF. The varietals feature excellent yield potential, high fiber quality and tolerance or resistance to problems commonly faced by cotton producers, such as Ramularea areola and gall nematodes.
According to João Vanin, seed production manager at SLC Agrícola, the company has been dedicating over 20 years to researching cotton cultivation in Brazil’s Cerrado region, offering varieties with excellent potential for rural producers. “We are launching our cotton seed brand that offers not only superior quality but also the exchange of experiences in cotton crop management. We have been producing cotton seeds for two years for our own use and now have decided to go to market and forge even closer relations with our clients. SLC Agrícola also tests new varieties and technologies on its own farms, with a total cotton planted area of 125,000 hectares. “We draw on our expertise in cotton production to develop and offer seeds with all the properties required for producing high-quality fibers,” he explained.
