SLC Agrícola launches campaign to encourage donations to Banco de Alimentos do Rio Grande do Sul [Food bank in Rio Grande do Sul]
SLC Agrícola, through Instituto SLC, is engaged in the fight against hunger. After donating 180 tons of food in the eight states where it operates, it now wants to join forces with the community of Rio Grande do Sul to together help Banco de Alimentos do Rio Grande do Sul get food to families in socially vulnerable situations.
To encourage the act of donating, SLC Agrícola allocated BRL 237 thousand to the Food Bank in items for food baskets. The population can help the institution and integrate the chain of good by making donations starting at BRL 4.00 (four Brazilian reais). It´s easy to help, just visit: bit.ly/slcagricolacontrafome. Afterwards, choose the payment option and finalize the donation.
The “SLC Contra Fome” [SLC against hunger] action supports the Doe Alimentos [donate food] project, from Rede de Bancos de Alimentos do Rio Grande do Sul, which for 20 years has been helping to minimize hunger in the state. The initiative is a way for the population to give food, affection and hope to those who need it most. In a practical and quick way, a food basket is assembled and donated by the citizen, thus benefiting institutions in different cities in Rio Grande do Sul.
For Eduardo Logemann, president of Grupo SLC, if each one does their part and donates a little, the chain against hunger will become even stronger. “SLC Agrícola, through Instituto SLC, wants to join efforts to help the South American cowboys who live in vulnerable situations. Collaboration has been part of the company's purpose since its foundation and now it invites both society and the company's collaborators to engage in the fight against hunger”.
Over BRL 1 million in donations
In July, SLC Agrícola, through Instituto SLC, started a national campaign that benefited entities that serve people in socially vulnerable situations in cities in the states where the head offices of their farms and headquarters are located, in Porto Alegre (RS). In all, associations, entities and families from over 30 municipalities, located in seven Brazilian states, received food baskets. The amount made available was BRL 1 million, which resulted in 180 tons of food.
