SLC Agrícola is one of the partners of the Carbono Xingu program
On April 23, SLC Agrícola participated in the launch of Carbono Xingu, an innovative soil carbon program focused on regenerative agriculture and artificial intelligence, resulting from the strategic partnership between our company, Agro Penido, and Agrorobótica, a Brazilian deep tech specialized in soil digitalization. The launch took place at the headquarters of Agrorobótica, in the city of São Carlos (SP), and was attended by the CEO of SLC Agrícola, Aurélio Pavinato; the Director of HR, Sustainability and IT, Álvaro Dilli, and the Sustainability Manager, Tiago Agne, as well as leaders from the companies and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).
The program will initially be carried out in an area of 9,000 hectares of Pioneira Farm (MT), and will implement regenerative agriculture practices, promote soil carbon sequestration, and apply the Verra VM0042 methodology for certification and generation of auditable carbon credits. The technological advantage of the program lies in the use of the AGLIBS platform, developed by Agrorobótica in partnership with Embrapa Instrumentação. It is the first technology in the world capable of simultaneously digitizing carbon and soil fertility, based on laser spectrometry and artificial intelligence – the same used by NASA in missions to Mars, with the Curiosity rover.
The launch of Carbono Xingu represents a new chapter for the Brazilian agriculture, where innovation, profitability, and sustainability go hand in hand. Among the main benefits anticipated for producers are: generation of soil carbon credits; access to green credit with better rates; digitized soil for quick and traceable decisions; increased yield and profitability; appreciation of rural property and sustainable commodities with higher market value. On the same day, the delegation from the companies also visited the headquarters of Embrapa Instrumentação, in the same city.
"The participation of SLC Agrícola in the Carbono Xingu program highlights our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and the development of solutions that effectively contribute to the mitigation of climate change. We believe that the integration between regenerative agriculture, technology, and good practices is essential to ensure even greater advances in the Brazilian agribusiness, and Carbono Xingu is a concrete example of this vision of the future," underscores Pavinato.
