Mato Grosso ends cotton sowing cycle
Recording a final progress of 1.29% in the weekly comparison, Mato Grosso closed cotton sowing in the state last week, according to Instituto Mato-grossense de Economia Agropecuária - IMEA. Excessive rainfall has negatively affected the planting process as well as the soy crop in some regions.
According to data from the Institute, Mato Grosso producers managed to sow about 75% of the predicted areas within the ideal fiber window by the end of January. With the closure of this stage, the focus now is on crop health control, as well as a strict monitoring of the climate in the cultivated regions. According to ESALQ's Tempo Campo [weather forecast system] system, in the next 30 days, the accumulated precipitation could be between 200 mm to 300 mm in most of the state
