Cotton harvest continues in excellent conditions in Western Bahia
More than a hundred days have passed since cotton sowing began in Bahia, on November 21 of last year, and the crops continue to perform excellently in the western region of the state. In the 2021/2022 harvest cycle, the producer has already proceeded to nitrogen fertilization, with controlled pests and without severe damage.
Among the most present pests are the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) on the edges, thrips (Frankliniella schultzei) and aphids (Aphis gossypii), according to Abapa´s Phytosanitary Program. Boll weevils (Anthonomus grandis) also appeared in harvest rotation areas (cotton-soy/cotton-corn). The ramularia fungal disease (Ramularia areola) also appeared, despite presenting lower levels.
