SLC Agrícola employees participate in a course on cotton
Employees and coordinators of 9 SLC Agrícola Cotton Production Units conducted the course "The Impact of the Intrinsic and Extrinsic Characteristics of Cotton in the Textile Industry". There were 2 days of technical training conducted at the headquarters of Agopa (Goian Association of Cotton Producers), on April 11 and 12, in Goiânia (GO). In all, 25 employees from the states of MA, BA, MT, MS, GO and RS participated in the training.
SLC Agrícola's Cotton Coordinator, Edmilson Souza Santos, explained that the teams involved in cotton production need to know more about the particularities of the fiber, for better processing and shipping to the industries.
Agopa was chosen to host the training because it has a HVI (High Volume Instrument) analysis laboratory. The measuring equipment that the laboratory has is important for the development of the practical part of the course. "Goiania stands out for being in the center of the country and Agopa is our partner. We do cotton analysis of some of our productive units in their laboratory and we know the quality of their work", he says.
The objective of the course was to understand the fundamental points that influence fiber quality. "We have to add value to our product when it comes to selling it. We can only do this if we take care of the whole process, from the preparation of the soil to the delivery of the lint", says the professor who gave the training, Jorge Jose de Lima, a professor accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) in cotton lint qualification.
