Brazil exports 2.4 million tons of cotton
The Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (Abrapa) announced the country's cotton exports for the period from August 2020 to July 2021. According to the association, the country exported 2.4 million tons of the fiber, or 23% more than in the prior-year crop year, setting a new all-time high.
The country's cotton exports generated revenue of US$3.77 in the 2020/21 crop year. The main destination of Brazilian cotton was China, which accounted for 30% of the total exports in the crop year, acquiring 720.7 thousand tons to become the largest consumer of Brazilian cotton.
China was followed by the following countries: Vietnam (17%), Pakistan (12%), Turkey (12%), Bangladesh (11%), Indonesia (9%), Malaysia (3%), South Korea (3%), Thailand and India (1% and 0.4%).
