The 2021/22 soy harvest could reach 144.3 million tons
The soy harvest in Brazil in 2021/2022 could reach 144.3 million tons, according to Agroconsult´s estimates. The survey shows that favorable general weather conditions and growth of the planted area amid good prices collaborate with production. If the record number is reached, a 5.2% growth would be confirmed compared to the 137.1 million tons of the previous harvest.
“As a general rule, we are doing very well this year. The rains started very early throughout the country, allowing us to plant at the very beginning of the ideal window”, says André Pessôa, managing director of Agroconsult. Pessôa also added that there is a possibility that the 145 million ton mark will be exceeded if weather conditions remain favorable.
The calculation of the harvest volume in January, the most intense time, is 6.5 million tons in the first two weeks. This high number is a result of early planting due to the rains, and is close to the 8.2 million tons reached in the earliest season in history, in 2018/19.
In terms of exports, Brazil should reach the mark of 92.2 million tons if the harvest numbers are confirmed at the end, meaning an increase of 7.7% compared to the 85.6 million tons projected for 2021.
